On the Road of Recovery was started last year, 2021 in large part due to the increased opioid epidemic in Ohio. Our mission is to increase awareness about the disease of addiction and show that recovery is possible for everyone.
Erin Helms, the executive director of On the Road of Recovery has been involved in recovery housing in Cuyahoga County since 2014. Since the first recovery house was established, her advocacy for recovery work has continued to increase. As a person in long term recovery, she is passionate about advocating for people with substance use disorders. Erin is on the board for Ohio Recovery Housing, Secretary for the National Alliance Recovery Residences, and a Cuyahoga County Opiate Task Force member.
The On the Road of Recovery team includes a project manager, two video editors and recruiters from across the state who find individuals to interview. Many team members are in recovery themselves and everyone is deeply passionate about the work we are doing.
Millions of Americans are affected directly or indirectly by addiction and have then reinvented themselves through various recovery methods. It is time for their stories to be heard!
